PICKENS COUNTY SCHOOLS: Pickens County Schools Calendar Change

School4

Pickens County Schools issued the following announcement on July 31.

The Pickens County Board of Education met morning, Friday, July 31, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. to adjust the district calendar.  The adjustment was made to allow additional professional development days prior to the students return.

The decision was based on the fact that the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) provide the Toolkit for reopening on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 and the fact that Schoology and Schools PLP isn’t ready for the teachers to implement.  District staff is working feverishly to have everything loaded in the platforms and ready for teacher usage by next week.

The traditional (face-to-face) students will begin their staggered schedules (Schedule A and Schedule B) on August 26, 2020.  The virtual/blended learning students will be contacted by school personnel to schedule a time to pick up chromebook bundles.  Pick up dates will be August 20-25, 2020 (weekdays).  Training on how to use the chromebooks and utilize the education platform will be provided at that time.  Please keep in mind that the chromebooks do not automatically provide internet access.  You must have access to the internet in order to successfully use the education platform.
