While holiday celebrations were in full swing, our Bibb County Sheriff's Office deputies were working around the clock to help keep our citizens safe! H.E.A.T. Units arrested several suspects for driving under the influence, and occupants who were in possession of stolen firearms, prescription pills, and marijuana. In one instance, deputies observed a Cadillac Escalade traveling on the wrong side of the roadway and pursued the driver when he refused to stop. The pursuit ended after the driver entered the wrong way on the I-475 ramp from Eisenhower Parkway. Deputies subsequently surrounded and were able to box in his vehicle, as he attempted to drive southbound in the northbound lanes. H.E.A.T. Unit deputies also pursued the driver of a Honda Accord after his speed was checked at 96 mph on Pio Nono Avenue. The driver then cut through a parking lot of a fast-food restaurant before getting back onto the roadway and speeding over 120 mph along Eisenhower Parkway. The chase ended just as the deputy prepared to perform a PIT maneuver. The driver came to a stop and surrendered near Log Cabin Drive. These subjects and other drivers were taken to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for detention.
