Four businesses registered in four cities found within Pickens County in the week ending Nov. 5, 2022

There were four businesses that registered in cities within Pickens County in the week ending Nov. 5, 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 300 percent more than the week before, when one business was registered.

Aliceville registered the most businesses in Pickens County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
