Six businesses registered in two cities found within Dallas County in the week ending Jan. 7

There were six businesses that registered in cities within Dallas County in the week ending Jan. 7, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is an increase over the week before, when no licenses were issued.

Selma registered the most businesses in Dallas County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
