18 businesses registered in six cities found within Sumter County during Q4 2022

There were 18 businesses that registered in cities within Sumter County during the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is 25 percent less than the quarter before, when 24 businesses were registered.

York registered the most businesses in Sumter County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
