One city within Pickens County had a business register in week ending Jan. 14

There was one business that registered in cities within Pickens County in the week ending Jan. 14, according to the Alabama Secretary of State.

This is an increase over the week before, when no licenses were issued.

Reform registered the most businesses in Pickens County.

More than 99 percent of Alabama's businesses are considered small, with more than 47 percent of Alabama's employees working for a small business, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A Civic Economics study found $100 spent at a locally-owned business puts $47 back into the local economy while the total is just $13 for non-local businesses.
