2021 has 7% of Sumter County residents unemployed

Sumter County recorded an unemployment rate of 7% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 328 people out of the 12,482 living in Sumter County at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in Sumter County has decreased compared to the 8% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Sumter County was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 5.4%.

Of the 4,383 people who had a job during that time, 7 were employed in the Armed Forces and 4,376 belonged to the civilian labor force.
