In the 2022-23 school year, 37.5% of Black or African American students in Sumter County schools met Alabama’s college readiness criteria, according to the Alabama Department of Education.

Of the 113 students assessed for college readiness in the county, 42 were Black or African American and met college readiness standards—a 30% decrease from the previous year.

A total of 82 students graduated from Sumter County school in the 2022-23 school year.
